So Shall I

A Poem By Joy Aletheia Stevens

~

Shall I wander, Lord?
Shall I wander in the desert?
If You ask me Lord, so shall I.

~

Shall I ponder, Lord?
What You teach me in this desert?
As You teach me Lord, so shall I.

~

Shall I be humbler, Lord?
Shall I be humbled in the desert?
As You make me Lord, so shall I.

~

Will You deliver, Lord?
Deliver me from the desert?
But if I should stay here Lord, so shall I.

~

Complete submission to Christ when life is hard. It’s not something we necessarily find easy. Yet I have found that the most precious lessons of my life have been born out of hardship. I’ve found that my greatest testimonies don’t come out of easy times, but hard. It’s difficult to trust when things seem hard, but its in those times that trust is the most important thing we can do.

I appreciated this poem. When Saul of Tarsus was confronted by the Living Christ, and came to believe and be baptized, he went to the desert of Arabia for three years. We all need a time in the desert to be molded and shaped by a loving God. So shall I.

I definitely have been in some dry and thirsty places. Nice poem!
