The Best of Me
A Poem, By Joy Aletheia Stevens
~
Oh world grown dim in despair,
You people who do not care,
You have forgotten the holy creed,
And the way your bonds might be freed.
~
You poets, have you forgotten love?
You artists, what are you thinking of?
Storyteller, where is your tale?
Musician, all you do is wail!
~
True hearts, where is your voice?
You have been drowned out by the noise.
The worst of you is all I see!
But you will have the best of me.
~
You will have the best of me…
Here is another poem I wrote years ago. I share it today, during the opening week for the new site, as a kind of promise. There are many things one could express through art, and words are a kind of art, believe me. Art is the language that touches the deep places of who we are.
I’ve never felt that such a thing should be taken lightly. We are meant to give.
And I will give my best.
