In Trial You Are There
A Poem By Joy Aletheia Stevens
~
In my time of trial
You are there
In my time of trial
You are there
~
When I face the turmoil
Of this world
In my time of trial
Your will unfolds
~
When I’m in the desert
You are there
Showing me the light
As I lay my heart bare
~
As my tears fall
To the ground
You hear my whispered call
You hear every sound
~
In the midst of trial
You lay yourself down
In my trial
You turn my life around
~
When I’m in my trial
And evil tries to win
I see the good in trial
For now Your hand I am within
~
Jesus, thank You for trial
Thank You for tears
Thank You for trial
The difficult years
~
For it was Your trial
When You laid Yourself down
And it was through my trial
You turned my life around
~
I know in time of trial
You are there
Yes in my time of trial
You are there
~
I’ve been writing a lot about trial lately, so I thought I’d post one of the poems I wrote as a teenager. I wrote a lot of depressing poems at this time because I was deep in a medication induced depression. But very often God would seem to write Himself into them and almost always they would end in hope. It was very therapeutic. I hope this one can help you if you are in the middle of a difficult time. God works every trial for good. His most difficult trial produced our own salvation. There is always hope.
