Part of me has always liked the idea of being a bit more self-reliant. Being able to grow my own food and get a little bit more back to the basics of the earth, to be a little less reliant on the grocery store and a little less removed from where and how my things are made.
Enter Wendy Marcum and her blog 10 Acres and 6 Chicks!
Wendy welcomes you into her own journey as she works to get back to basics! As she learns, we get to learn along with her! I don’t know how many of the things she is doing will be possible for me, seeing as I live in an apartment with not even a porch, still I can try! But getting back to the earth is an inspiring thing and someday I hope to follow her in her steps!
So lets get to know Wendy!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become more self-reliant?
I would encourage them to start right where they are. If they live in an apartment they can try container gardening or buy their food from farmer’s markets. Anyone can learn to preserve food, to sew, to recycle and reuse items. Don’t think that you have to have a farm to be self-reliant, look around and see what you can do or learn to do for yourself.
What can we expect from your blog in the future?
I want my blog to grow and reflect my personal growth as I learn and change. This is an exciting time in my life, there is always something new to learn or do and I hope people who read my blog see that I am willing to share ideas and communicate with them.
How do you hope to make a difference with your blog?
I hope people are encouraged by my blog. I try to share real, everyday experiences and offer resources and ideas that maybe a reader didn’t know about.
