Today I have the distinct honor of featuring blogger Jessa McClure from The Home Grown Heart!
Jesse’s blog is a fun mix of faith and life, homeschooling and motherhood. You’ll find crafts and activities and recipes. I’d love for you to get to know her and what she has to say!
Here is a bit of an interview with this great woman! Be sure to read some of her posts, linked to at the end of this post, and subscribe to her socials!
Why did you want to start a blog?
I’ve always been someone who likes to capture the important moments in life. Whether that’s taking a picture, writing in a journal or crafting, I’m always striving to leave mementos of the present to find in the future. I also have a big heart for encouraging people, and I know that sometimes when we talk about our own ups and downs, it gives someone else permission to cut themselves a little slack.
What is your favorite thing to blog about?
I love blogging about the funny things that happen when you’re a parent to a toddler and a preschooler (almost kindergartner (sniff again)). They surprise me every day with the things they say and do. They are a constant source of entertainment.
What’s the craziest thing that has happened while you were trying to write a blog?
This is probably not the craziest, but it was pretty funny. I had just finished writing my blog. I pasted it into WordPress, added my images and was ready to publish, when a monster truck came rolling across my laptop, pressing some strange combination of keys and deleting my entire post. It wasn’t funny in the moment, but I can laugh about it now.
How has your relationship with God grown over the past year?
God has really opened my eyes in the past year. He has showed me areas of weakness and strength. The closer I draw to Him, the further away I get from the things that keep me from Him. I have also become more empathetic and aware of those around me, and more intentional in showing God’s love.
What advice would you give to moms who are parenting young children or homeschooling for the first time?
Just take a deep breath. There are going to be days where nothing gets done and you feel like you’ll never get to the top of the hill (of laundry). But then, as soon as you feel yourself faltering, you will have one of those moments that makes it all worth it. So, hang in there, pray a lot and find joy in the small victories (yea, I found matching socks).

I love reading blogs! It’s probably one of my favorite parts of blogging! There are so many beautiful people out there sharing their heart. It humbles me to count myself among them.
