Come Down Sky
A Poem By Joy Aletheia Stevens
~
Come down sky,
And touch my hand.
Don’t pretend to be so high
Above the land.
~
Come down stars,
Yes, you too,
Jupiter and Mars,
I’ve not forgotten you.
~
Do stop pretending
That you are out of reach.
You mustn’t be taunting
With your speech.
~
For I know a secret
About the sky,
Just how its blue
Is in my eyes.
~
For there is a God
Who holds my hand,
With His gentle rod,
Brings promised land.
~
So don’t pretend, sky,
To be so tall.
My God is high!
AboveΒ it all!
~

This is SO beautiful! It is amazing to look at the stars and sky sometimes and realize that our God is bigger than all of it.
Joy says
It is, isn’t it? I used to think about it this way: We can go out and look at the stars and be overwhelmed by how vast the universe is, yet what we can see with our eyes is just a miniscule part of the vastness of the universe. In the same way we can be so overwhelmed by the vastness of God, but in reality any part of Him that we can comprehend is such the tiniest speck of Him, He is so much bigger, so much greater than what we could grasp with our minds. He is endless! π
