Beloved Daughter
A Poem, by Joy Aletheia Stevens
~
Your laughter rings in my ears,
It’s so sweet to hear.
Are you even aware of the joy you bring?
Or how you make my heart sing?
~
Your innocent smiles, your innocent cries
The wonder and beauty in your eyes
The imagination that can reach the skies
And the desire to fly.
~
Fly to the moon beloved daughter!
Dream high, keep going! Never falter!
Your influence will reach farther than you’ll ever know
Just keep looking up, and continue to grow.
~
Laugh! Laugh long, laugh often.
Smile, choose joy, let your heart soften.
Walk in the beauty that is truth.
Understand that love is worth more than youth.
~
Listen, listen close and be wise
Speak good, do good, give life.
Oh, child, listen to my hearts cries.
Be good, be strong, love life.
~
Let go of hurts, refuse to grow bitter.
Forgive, forget, love for forever.
Be tender, be vulnerable, it may hurt at times.
Still, be humble, be loveable, let your heart shine.
~
Pray often, listen well, and hold on to faith.
Don’t let your feet falter, keep your eyes ahead.
It might not always be easy to hold fast to belief.
Still, child, I charge you, hold on beloved.
~
I love you. Don’t forget it.
No matter what life brings.
You are loved. Live it.
And let your heart sing!
~
Was this from me, to her, or from Him, to me? I honestly don’t know. Perhaps both.
