I was going to post something different today. I had it all ready to go. But it’s being pushed out till next week.
I watched the program put out by Billy Graham. Did you? It’s being called his last message to the world. At 95 I suppose you can’t expect much more. As I watched it I was struck by one thought:
Billy’s message has always been the same.
The message, at its heart, was simple. He very clearly outlined the purpose of the cross, salvation, and our need for it. Interspersed with his words were clips from his messages throughout the past; and the testimonies from a couple talented people on how they came to put their hope in Christ. That’s all it was. In it there was nothing new to me, nothing out of my realm of thought, every scripture was familiar, line by line, but in it was the very heart of my everything. Christ! His Love! His Grace! His Suffering for my sake!
How often can we get so boggled down with arguments and debates! How often can we get sidetracked with different avenues of thought or doctrine! But it is this one thing, this one message, that matters.
Billy is a minister who has the respect of the world, and there are so many things he could have used his last message to address, but he knew none of it mattered. He’s always preached the same message. Come to the Cross!
So this post is in honor of Billy Graham. A man with a breed of faith that in some ways is an endangered species today. Why did God choose a simple farmer to spread His message so far for so many years? Because the message was simple, and it is with simplicity that we receive it. That moment when we get over ourselves, our own ideas, our own thought processes, and our own pride, and just… accept, grab hold, turn to Christ.
I’m not going to say anymore. Just please, click the link below and watch this amazing mans last message. Open your heart and listen.
Accept, Grab Hold, Turn To Christ!

This is a terrific well-written post. Well done! One of the greatest character traits of great spiritual men and women is their consistency. Billy Graham is one we can model.

Thank you! I agree that consistency is an important character trait! I also know, unfortunately, that most of the time it is one I lack. I look at people like my Grandmother who I know is consistent in her prayers for her family and I call her one that has an “Old-fashioned Billy Graham type faith” meaning the term in every good possible way. It is something I seek to emulate, but in this day of mindless entertainment discipline is, I think, harder then ever to gain.
